The ADAPT Centre’s nationwide AI Literacy in the Classroom initiative continued on March 1st with a dynamic workshop hosted in Cork. The event welcomed post-primary teachers for a day of learning focused on introducing artificial intelligence concepts in a responsible, engaging, and accessible way.
The workshop featured expert speakers from across the ADAPT Centre network, including Dr Eileen Culloty (Dublin City University), who opened the session by demystifying AI and highlighting its growing role in education. Dr Malika Bendechache (University of Galway) followed with an insightful talk on the Ethics of AI, encouraging educators to guide students in considering the broader societal implications of the technology. After lunch, Dr Haithem Afli (Munster Technological University) led a thought-provoking session on misinformation and disinformation in the AI era, equipping teachers with tools to help students navigate today’s complex information landscape.
The day concluded with a discussion of key workshop takeaways and practical resources, supporting educators to foster AI literacy, digital awareness, and ethical thinking in their classrooms.
This event forms part of ADAPT’s broader commitment to empowering teachers and students across Ireland to critically engage with AI and its impact on society.
