Following successful sessions in Dublin, Galway and Cork, the ADAPT Centre continued its nationwide AI Literacy in the Classroom initiative with an engaging workshop held in Sligo on March 22nd. Aimed at post-primary teachers, the AI Literacy in the Classroom workshop offered practical strategies for introducing students to artificial intelligence while promoting safe, ethical, and informed AI use.
The workshop brought together expert speakers including Louise McCormack (University of Galway), Dr. Michal Wieczorek (ADAPT Centre, DCU), and Dr. Keith Quille (TU Dublin), who led participants through interactive sessions designed to demystify AI concepts and empower educators to bring these critical conversations into their classrooms.
Attendees discussed ethical considerations, explored real-world applications of AI, and tested out accessible tools and resources that align with curriculum goals. The workshop encouraged teachers to think critically about how AI impacts society and the importance of fostering digital and data literacy among students.
This event is part of a wider ADAPT-led initiative to build AI literacy across Ireland, helping equip the next generation with the skills they need to navigate an increasingly AI-driven world.
